Diamond Cup Wheel for Concrete & Stone Grinding

High-Performance Diamond Grinding Cup Wheel for Concrete and Stone Chamfering and Leveling
Diamond cup wheels are grinding tools for concrete, masonry and stone. They level floors, remove paint/epoxy, and shape edges. Common types include double‑row for smoother finishes, turbo for faster removal, and PCD for tough coating stripping. They fit angle grinders and floor grinders. fast material removal with clean finishes, long life and safer work. Balanced designs reduce vibration. Match bond hardness and segment style to the material to maximize efficiency and lower project time and cost.

Real Grinding Performance & Key Metrics

DINOSAW diamond cup wheels are material-removal tools: double-row wheels for controlled leveling, turbo wheels for fast stock removal, and PCD cutters for stripping coatings — grinding, leveling and shaping surfaces before the finishing stage begins.

Double-Row / Turbo / PCD

Construction Options

Three constructions match the removal task: double-row for controlled leveling, turbo for maximum stock removal rate, PCD for stripping coatings that load diamond segments.

30#–120#

Grit Range

Coarse 30/40# grits remove stock fast; 100/120# grits refine the ground surface — the grit ladder prepares the substrate for its next process.

80–230 mm

Diameter Range

Diameters from 80 to 230 mm fit the angle grinder fleet: the cup wheel is sized to the tool and the removal task, not the other way around.

4 Interfaces

Mounting Standards

20 mm, 22.23 mm, M14 and 5/8"-11 interfaces cover international grinder standards — direct mounting without adapter compromises.

Applicable materials: Concrete, masonry, natural stone, epoxy and paint coatings, and asphalt.

Typical applications: Floor leveling and preparation, coating removal, stone edge shaping, chamfering, high-spot grinding and surface preparation before polishing or coating.

Actual wheel life varies with material abrasiveness, grinding pressure and grit selection.

Specs and options

Cup wheels are offered 3"–9" (80–230 mm) in double-row, turbo and PCD constructions, with diamond grits 30/40# to 100/120# on grinding models and joint options 20 mm, 22.23 mm, M14 and 5/8"-11 — sized and jointed per grinder fleet.

Core Technology & Wheel Structure

Four engineering decisions behind the cup wheel range. The numbered points on the wheel diagram correspond to the systems below.

Cup Wheel Grinding Workflow

A grinding job follows four steps: strip coatings first with PCD where present, level and shape with turbo or double-row at coarse grit, refine with finer grits for the next process, then clean the surface — progressing grits only when the coarse step has done its work.

01

Double-Row Controlled Grinding

Two segment rows distribute contact across more cutting points: removal runs steady and controlled with a flatter finish — the floor-leveling and edge-correction default, still a grinding tool rather than a polishing one.

02

Turbo Fast Removal

Open turbo segment geometry prioritizes cubic-centimeters-per-minute: swarf clears fast and diamond exposure stays aggressive in hard concrete and stone — the choice when the job is bulk reduction.

03

PCD Coating Stripping

PCD cutters attack soft or gummy coatings by cutting and lifting them from the substrate: epoxy, paint and adhesive residues that would load and smear conventional diamond segments strip cleanly at high rate, protecting the substrate beneath.

04

Heat & Dust Evacuation

Segment gaps carry dust and debris through the grinding zone: the wheel loads slower and holds its cutting behavior through the pass instead of smearing — open geometry is the loading defense in dry grinding.

05

Interface Standardization

Four joint standards cover grinders worldwide: each wheel mounts on its proper thread or arbor directly, keeping runout — and the vibration it causes — out of the grinding surface.

06

Grit-Step Preparation Logic

The grit ladder serves preparation, not gloss: coarse steps remove stock and level; finer diamond grits reduce the grinding scratch so polishing, coating or installation follows on a properly prepared surface — the cup wheel's job ends where the finishing system's begins.

Note: conventional equipment varies by brand and model; actual performance depends on the specific machine, material and working conditions.

Diamond Cup Wheel Selection & Use FAQ

Common Questions About Diamond Cup Wheels

Match the construction to the material behavior. Double-row wheels suit stone and concrete grinding where surface quality matters: more cutting points per rotation give steady, controlled removal with less gouging — the floor-leveling and edge-shaping default. Turbo wheels maximize removal rate: open geometry clears swarf fast in hard concrete, at some cost to surface smoothness — the choice for bulk reduction and high-spot grinding. PCD wheels are coating specialists: their cutters shear epoxy, paint and adhesives that would gum and load any diamond segment. The classic mistake runs PCD on bare concrete or stone, wasting an expensive tool on work a diamond wheel does better; the other mistake is attacking thick epoxy with a turbo diamond wheel, which loads and burns. One rule orders the fleet: coatings present → PCD; bare material → diamond, double-row for control, turbo for speed.

No — they are sequential stages of one workflow, not substitutes. The cup wheel removes material: it levels high spots, shapes edges and strips coatings, leaving a ground surface with a visible scratch pattern. Polishing pads refine that scratch pattern into gloss: they remove almost no stock, and they cannot fix the leveling or shaping work — running pads over an uneven or coated surface just polishes the defects. The standard workflow is cup wheel first, pads second: grind and level to the required geometry, then run the grit ladder to the specified gloss. Shops that try to skip the grinding stage spend pad life trying to do removal work pads were never designed for, and shops that skip the pad stage deliver a ground surface where a polished one was specified. Use the cup wheel to prepare, the pads to finish — the tools divide the job cleanly.

One task each, and the selection is direct. Epoxy, paint or adhesive removal → PCD: the cutters lift coatings without loading, and the substrate survives intact. A smoother, flatter concrete surface → double-row: the two-row contact pattern levels steadily with controlled finish quality — then finer grits reduce the scratch before coating or polishing. Grinding down a high spot fast → turbo: open geometry and aggressive exposure remove bulk quickly, with the understanding that the surface needs a double-row or finer pass afterward if flatness matters. Many grinder fleets carry all three because real jobs mix the tasks: strip the coating with PCD, level with double-row, reduce the high spots with turbo, then hand off to the finishing stage. If you stock one construction only, choose by your dominant task and add the others as the work demands.
